Handler lived in a great neighborhood with a happy upbringing. She moved to Los Angeles when she was 19, in order to pursue a career in acting. Handler was an actor in order to support herself. Handler at the time was at the age of 21, decided to focus on stand-up comics full time after discovering her storytelling skills. Handler's career started with an acting gig in a cast of all females in the Oxygen channel's reality-TV series Girls who behave badly. The show was an amalgamation of hidden cameras as well as funny humor. It aired from 2002 until 2005. The handler began to appear on various other programs, including Weekends at D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler began working on The Tonight Show as a reporter.
